| The purpose of TruthAboutETS is to provide information and editorial opinion on matters related to sympathectomy. I am an ETS patient, having had a T2-T4 ganglia resection with Harmonic Scalpel on October 11, 2002. The articles and editorials are based on my personal experience, and extensive research I have done in the years following my surgery.
I am not a doctor, but I believe that the information presented is medically correct. In fact, I maintain that TruthAboutETS is the most complete and scientifically accurate source of ETS information anywhere, at least in the English language. If and when any inaccuracies are brought to my attention, it is my policy to correct them immediately.
Having said that, the information on this site does not constitute medical advice, and I cannot be responsible for the outcome of anyone's medical treatment. If you are considering any type of surgery, I strongly recommend seeking the advice of a medical professional who has no financial stake in your decision.
Similarly, I am not an attorney. I may offer my opinion about litigation revolving around sympathectomy, but it does not constitute legal advice, and I cannot be held responsible for anyone's legal problems.
My given name is Alex Baker. My online name is "songboy1234". I post on this site and several internet forums under that name and no other. I was born in 1960 and I currently reside in Sherman Oaks, California, USA.
I think it is fair to characterize the entire TruthAboutETS site as "anti-ETS". I certainly did not begin with that point of view. I consented to ETS surgery with the belief that it would reduce my excessive sweating down to normal, that it would make my good life even better. I could not have been more mistaken. The effects of the autonomic nerve damage have ruined my emotions, my body, my career, my marriage, my life. I met many other victims whose stories were remarkably similar to my own. I learned the physiology and the history and the literature. I am anti-ETS because the facts are anti-ETS.
I began TruthAboutETS in 2004 with one goal in mind: to create the website I wish I had seen prior to my ETS surgery. I have accomplished my original objective. Now I will not stop adding to this site until I believe every prospective sympathectomy patient has access to adequate information. Foremost among my new goals is to create a state-of-the-art medical animation showing the function of the autonomic nervous system, and what happens to the human body when part of it is destroyed.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you find the site useful and informative.
